Our Model of Education
At Hartford College, students are immersed in a comprehensive, Catholic, classical education. This approach offers a broad exposure to the traditional liberal arts which have been at the foundation of Catholic education since ancient times.
The curriculum integrates history, literature, philosophy, theology, mathematics and the natural sciences in a way that highlights connections between these various arts and sciences. For example, we aim to show how the logic of mathematics is seen in philosophy, or how the beauty of God's creation is seen in the natural sciences.
Hartford College is Australia’s first Catholic high school in the liberal arts tradition. It has an engaging and rich curriculum, designed to impart well-rounded knowledge across multiple disciplines and develop critical and independent thinking skills.

The Chesterton Schools Network
Hartford College is a member of the Chesterton Schools Network, a family of about 60 Catholic classical high schools in the United States, with several schools abroad, in Italy, Iraq, England, and Sierra Leone. The network aims to inspire and encourage the revival of Catholic education through the classics, in the spirit of the joyful and wise writer G.K. Chesterton. Member schools support each other and meet regularly to compare notes and support each other on curriculum, school culture, fundraising, marketing, and other aspects of founding and running a new school.

Peter Foley, Chairman
Peter is the Director of Finance at the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney and formerly held a range of commercial finance roles as General Manager and CFO working across multiple industries and corporate environments including Business Process Outsourcing, Marketing, Hospitality/Entertainment, and Transport Services.
In addition to his role with the Archdiocese of Sydney, Peter holds several other appointments including being a member of the Sydney Catholic Schools Audit and Risk Committee and Chairman of Harford College.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Tim Mitchell, Director
Tim is the principal of Bay Legal, a legal practice which he operates with his wife Penny, based in Maroubra Junction. He has been a Member of the Advisory Council of St Mary & St Joseph Maroubra Bay for 15 years. Tim has held and enjoyed a broad range of community roles which have involved the development of a great idea and bringing the vision to fruition through active collaboration with others.

Penelope Wright, Director
Penelope is a practising solicitor with her husband in a firm started in 2005. She holds a Bachelor of Economics, Master of Laws and Master of Bioethics. She has worked in retail banking, funds management and government relations with a major bank.
Penelope has been a member of the Board of the Sisters of Charity Foundation and Waverley College, past Chair and Deputy Chair of the NSW Premier’s Youth Advisory Council and is a Trustee of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.

Roisin Santucci, Director
Roisin has a career in teaching with experience in both public and private schools. In 2016, Roisin was the founding teacher at a new private school in Melbourne and currently teaches at Ascham School in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs. Roisin is an accredited Experienced Teacher through the AIS and has a Bachelor of Education from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales.

Blaise Joseph, Director
Blaise is a PhD Candidate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at New York University, where he is the recipient of a Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation World Universities Postgraduate Scholarship. Blaise is also an adjunct fellow at The Centre for Independent Studies and a former secondary school teacher. He has a Masters of Teaching and a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of New South Wales.

Charbel Azzi, Director
Charbel brings over 15 years of experience as a lawyer advising on complex legal compliance and governance matters. As a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), he also understands financial, auditing and risk management requirements. Charbel has a deep respect for Catholic values and a strong belief in the transformative power of Catholic education. He understands the balance required between faith, academic excellence, and administrative rigour. Charbel is also passionate about people, culture and charity serving as Chairman of Maronites on Mission Australia and director of Aid to the Church in Need.
